Most surgeries will involve an incision which will cut through not only the exterior skin but deep into the underlying layers of facia and through muscle. To facilitate the fastest possible recovery, it makes sense to ensure that these underlying structures are moving freely with no underlying issues before the operation commences. Post operation, everything we do is aimed at speeding up the recovery process and returning to pre-operation activities as soon as possible. Immediately after the operation, in the acute stage, we can apply Deep Oscillation Therapy (DOT) around the wound site and can apply Kinesiology Taping to provide protection around the site. Following that, we can use specific Restore Scar Therapy techniques, these might include localised Dry Cupping, Deep Oscillation and specialist massage, to manage the scar and work to maximise movement and mobility in the area.
