Although a massage can be performed through clothing, significantly better results can can achieved if the therapist can directly palpate the skin. Applying lotion directly to the skin allows the therapist to create just the right amount of friction and also allows the underlying structures (muscles, tendons etc.) to be felt which can be an important part of the treatment. You can expect your therapist to exercise the utmost discretion and to use towels to ensure that only the immediate area being worked on is exposed. If you have any concerns, please discuss these with your therapist before treatment begins as we want you to be as comfortable as possible throughout the session.
Yes, there are contraindications when a massage should not be performed: an acute injury, an open wound, when feverish, to name a few. The first duty of a massage therapist is not to cause harm; if in doubt, talk to your therapist. This is why each session will start with a consultation so that the therapist can ensure that treatment is appropriate.
Firstly, we will listen to your story to find out what has brought you to us for treatment. If this is your first visit, we will need to ask a few questions about your health and relevant medical history before giving an assessment of your posture and movement and therefore your first appointment is likely to be slightly longer than a regular appointment. We will then use a range of soft tissue techniques to alleviate pain, stiffness or discomfort, allowing you to move more freely. If you just want a relaxing massage to ease tension, that’s no problem. Where appropriate, we will recommend ways of keeping your muscles supple or simple exercises to prevent further strain or damage so that you can continue to look after yourself at home. We will provide towels to maintain your privacy throughout the treatment.

It is best to wear comfortable, loose-fitted clothing to your treatment such as gym clothing as it’s easy to slip on and off and is super comfortable. It’s best not to wear anything tight-fitted as when you put your clothing back on, there may still be some residual massage oil or lotion on your skin which could transfer onto your clothing and make you uncomfortable after your treatment. Another way to prepare for a massage is to tie up your hair or put it into a bun out of the way. This will stop your hair from going oily and won’t get in the therapist’s way.
Absolutely. You are welcome to have someone come with you and they can sit in the clinic room with you while you are receiving your treatment.
A massage doesn’t have to be painful; if you require a relaxing massage then your therapist will adjust the pressure to ensure you are in no discomfort and leave the clinic room as stress-free as possible. However, if you have a condition that needs treating, you may feel some mild discomfort at the site of the problem area. Your therapist will always communicate with you and can alter the pressure or technique for your comfort.
Yes. If you are local, we can come to your home if you would prefer and will bring everything we need with us including the treatment couch. However, this will incur a small surcharge as we have to allow for travel time and expenses. If you are interested in a mobile treatment, please contact us directly to make the arrangements.
Payment is due immediately after your treatment and we accept payment by card, contactless payment, bank transfer or cash. If you are fortunate enough to have one of our vouchers, please bring this with you on the day to be used in lieu of payment.
